I was born with an entrepreneurial spirit and a strong sense of adventure. As an entrepreneur, I was raising dogs by the age of ten. To satisfy my sense of adventure, I started private pilot training at the age of fourteen. I was literally flying planes before I could drive. To afford my flying lessons and my first car, I routinely worked baling hay and other jobs on nearby farms, quickly learning the value of hard work.
As a teen, I wanted to pursue a career in aviation right out of high school, but my flight instructor recommended I get a degree as a backup plan. I attended vocational school in an automotive program and took business classes as well. I worked as a furniture delivery guy to pay my way through college, as well as a carpenter, building cabinets for Winnebago motorhomes and installing flooring for new houses. That’s where I started to develop an awareness for real estate and an appreciation for new construction.
After graduation and a few years as a mechanic, I went on to buy a tool distribution franchise, which then led to a district manager job for Stanley Black & Decker. The position required a lot of traveling and I was often only home one day a week. By this time, my wife and I had three children and we were outnumbered. To be the kind of dad I wanted to be, I knew I had to be home more. So that entrepreneurial spirit kicked in again and I took a good look at becoming a realtor, having previously purchased an investment property. I realized being a realtor would give me the flexibility I needed to be with my family and the independence I craved as an entrepreneur.
It was one of the best decisions of my life! I love helping other families while still being there for my own family, too.
I get a thrill out of walking sellers and buyers through the complexities of buying and selling a home. I try to make the process as smooth as possible, and take a lot of pride in knowing that I met or exceeded my clients’ expectations.
I’m always looking for ways to offer my clients added benefits. For example, I use drone photography and create maps of the area around listing properties so that clients can see the layout of the neighborhood – where schools, stores, and parks are located. It’s especially helpful for out-of-town buyers who aren’t familiar with a particular area. I even provide floor plans of listings to potential buyers so they have something to refer to when considering a purchase. It puts me a step ahead of the competition when it comes to marketing and customer service.
I offer my clients consistent and thorough communication throughout the process. To me, it’s not just a sale, it’s about building a relationship. No matter whether it’s a small or big transaction, I treat every client the same. I always tell my clients that my ultimate goal is to get a five-star review from them so that I know I’ve earned their business.
Sincerely,
Jason Dowdey
